Our classrooms reflect the rich diversity of the world—and Multilingual Learners (MLs) are a vital part of that story. In this foundational session, we’ll explore why we serve MLs, including state and federal requirements and the importance of preparing students to thrive in our communities and beyond. We’ll break down the stages of language development, including BICS and CALP, and clarify the different types of MLs you may encounter—such as newcomers and refugee students. You'll leave with a deeper understanding of your role in supporting MLs, along with practical, ready-to-use resources to help every learner grow.

This training will be held on October 13, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the ROE #3 Professional Development Center. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. The cost to attend this training is $25/person and refreshments will be provided. Each participant will receive 1.0 PD hour.
