Effective behavior management if directly linked to positive teacher-student relationships. This session - intended for all those in K-12 education - will examine generational differences between teachers and their students and provide insight into what educators should know, what they can do, and how they can best support their students' behavioral needs. Participants will learn about behavioral functions, addressing trauma in the classroom and creating a positive classroom culture. Finally the training will dive into restorative practices, de-escalation strategies, and the importance of student engagement to reach all learners.

Objectives:

- What do behaviors mean

- Functions of behavior

- Understanding how trauma impacts behavior (how do we respond)

This training will be held on November 29, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the ROE #3 Professional Development Center. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The cost to attend this training is $40/person and lunch will be provided. Each participant will receive 4.5 PD hours upon completion of the training.
