Join us on March 21, 2024 an Introduction to Public Information Officer Duties. Below is a course outline of the items that will be covered:
- Introductions of Staff and Students
- Media Awareness – Introduction to the media and their business
- Developing Talking Points – Developing talking points for the situation and response that is occurring
- New Release – Developing a news release for the public and media (examples shared)
- Public Information Officer Techniques – Techniques that enhance the message that is being delivered
- Joint Information System and Joint Information Center – Brief description of each
- On Camera Interviews - Description of the techniques and one-on-one practice
- Brief Introduction to Message Mapping
- Press Briefing and Press Conferences – Information on what to prepare and how to conduct briefings and conferences
- Social Media – The benefits and pitfall of social media re briefly discussed
- Troubleshooting – How to overcome some of the situations that may not go well


This training will be held on March 21, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the ROE #3 Professional Development Center. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. The cost to attend this training is $100/participant and lunch will be provided. Each participant will receive 5.5 PD hours upon completion of the training.
